Settle for More - Megyn Kelly
So, straight talk, I go back and forth about Megyn Kelly and her views. I don’t regularly check in on her IG or watch her television show, but I’d been wanting to read her autobiography for a while. I find it interesting to read autos by people that I don’t necessarily agree with so that I can understand things from their perspective. I find that it helps me to be a more empathetic person who is able to put aside my own feelings to see the full picture.
Anyhow. Last time C and I went thrifting (one of our shared loves!) I found this book on the shelf for $1.99. I tend to read very quickly so buying books at full price can be a bit of a budget shocker.
Drew and I had watched the movie Bombshell several years ago, and it is based, in part, on Megyn’s interactions with Roger Ailes and the sexual harassment that she and other women suffered at the hand of the media mogul for years. {Sidenote: I had to educate Drew about how often sexual harassment happens in the workplace to women even today.} I knew that her book contained this story and I was intrigued to understand how in depth she would go.
I was surprised that the portion of her life regarding Roger and the Fox News scandal was only a chapter long, but I didn’t care. The rest of the book is both captivating and interesting, sharing personal stories from her childhood all the way through some harrowing years in her professional career. Hearing her advice and “watching” her story unfold was inspiring.
