I don’t bathe often. And, when I say “not often”, I mean I haven’t bathed since I was almost 41 weeks pregnant with my now 7 YEAR OLD SON. So, it’s been a while.
**Let me clarify: I shower EVERY DAY. But, I don’t really fit all that well in my tub, so the act of bathing doesn’t happen often. Okay, back to the conversation.**
But, I haven’t been feeling all that well. My digestive system is currently throwing a temper tantrum, and I feel foggy, and just generally gross. So, before I start the dreaded rounds of doctor appointments, I figured I would give this a shot!
Here is the recipe that I used:
Salt Detox Bath Recipe
1/4 Cup of Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt
1/4 Cup of Epsom Salt
1/4 Cup of Baking Soda
1/3 Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
Favorite essential oil if desired (I used 6 drops of Purification oil from Young Living)
Dissolve salt, epsom salt, and baking soda in boiling water and set aside. Fill tub with warm/hot water (I made mine as hot as I could stand it) and add apple cider vinegar. (Don’t worry – if you use essential oils, it will mask the ACV smell!) Pour salt mixtuire in and add essential oils if using.
Soak in bath for 30 minutes or as long as desired (I was in for 42). Note that with any detox bath, you may feel tired or lightheaded when you get out.

Here are my personal thoughts:
1. You sweat – it’s hot with the water and the whole detox thing.
2. Detoxing makes you kinda tingly.
3. Drink lots of water while you lay there – I guzzled 33oz!
4. Shower off once you are done with your bath, but don’t use any harsh chemicals or soaps. Your pores are still open.
5. Because of the epsom salt, your detox bath doubles as an exfoliation treatment. Gently use a loofah while in your cool-down shower.
6. My experience with a detox bath is my own – your experience could be COMPLETELY different. With that being said, if you are nervous – consult your doctor before jumping in. If not, give it a try!
7. Use good ‘ole Google to discover other recipes!
I would love to hear about your experience with detox baths – drop me a comment below and let’s get this sweaty, detoxing, relaxing conversation going!!
